Healthy Meal suggestions for Cracker Barrel

Arrived and their was 50 people waiting to be seated. The wait was quoted at 20-25 minutes. Lots of large groups! We went to browse in the store and by the time we did the lap our name was called. As always the food was perfect and the service with Shannon was great. The steak and eggs are my favorite the portions are sizable. My baby ordered the the old timers sampler her favorite! The decor is pleasant and the smell when you walk in is like my sisters house when she lived on Long Island in wine country. Seeing a lot of the old nostalgic signs bring me back to the late 70s! Great times although I was 9 years old.

Happier with the new healthier menu that gives calorie count, it's not fancy but they do home style cooking pretty well. This is a particularly good one because they make great biscuits at lunch.

Awesome awesome awesome!!! They are excellent for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I would recommend anyone to give them a shot. Staff is always pretty friendly and very knowledgeable. The pancakes are awesome. The French toast are awesome. Chicken and fish are great. The sides are outstanding although I haven't tried them all yet, LOL. I think you will be very pleased when you go here...

Had great service, atmosphere, and food. It was a Sunday at 1 pm and the place was slammed but the food was hot and tasty. Have had hit and miss experiences at Crackers but this place was impressive.

I absolutely fell in love with their yummy food and warm corn bread and biscuit and let's not forget they had wonderful service. I didn't think I was like it because I'm a picky eater and it wasn't to appealing to me when I got my dishes but everything tasted great.

Over the years I am becoming less of a fan of Cracker Barrel to many experiences such as this one on this Thanksgiving morning while traveling through the area. Taking into account it was Thanksgiving and I'm sure most of the staff wasn't thrilled to be here I was less than happy with the service or the breakfast and it's upsetting to me that I need to deal with this. Although the restaurant was mostly empty the confusion seem to start as soon as we were seated several servers asked for our drink order so I wasn't sure who exactly would be delivering the order or that it was clearly communicated and we would even get it, I guess one of the servers won the coin toss and our drinks finally arrived. Since the restaurant was empty I figured this visit would be a short one, once we placed our breakfast order the wait began after awhile one our servers stopped by to inform us our order should be out soon, that news would of been better received if she would of had a pot of coffee in hand to fill my empty cup. After a few more minutes a different served dropped off our food and quickly walked away. Still no coffee or signs of any other servers. - Eggs ordered over-medium were so undercooked the whites were gelatin like and cold. - Eggs ordered scrambled were cold and dried out - Bacon cold and dried out this was beyond crispy - Grits watery (enough said) - Biscuits the best part of the meal they were hot and delish - Smoked Sausage Patties undercooked If this is the best CB can offer on a holiday I suggest closing and giving the lack luster crew the day off this under performance has this customer rethinking the value here.

The food here is real and so enjoyable! The servers help the ambiance being so friendly. Depending on the size of your family it's cheaper to eat out versus buying all the ingredients and time spent making it. When I saw a normal size side salad was one of my choices I was elated. I had broccoli which was fresh and steamed. Mash potatoes also real. My meatloaf was delish! Peppers, onions and spices were in it. Freshly made biscuits or corn muffins are an excellent compliment to the meal. Cracker Barrel meals have been very good at each one we have been at. Thank you for such goodness!

I've eaten at several cracker barrel's and this one is as good as the rest I've been to. Usually you'll encounter a slight wait for a table and a bit of time for the food, but you can at least rock in chairs on the front porch or explore all the eclectic mix in the store located in the lobby which is an experience just worth visiting by itself. The hostesses are typically good, especially the short guy who seems like he is really excited about his job. The wait staff is usually attentive and good helping with rowdy kids. Recommend getting the chicken and dumplings. That's what we order 75% of the time. You can get multiple variations on the meal, but the usual is with either 2 or 3 sides. all the sides are good, but specifically recommend the hashbrown cassarole and mac n cheese. For the love of god, my sure you ask for the free biscuits that come with the meal and have them bring it out as an appetizer. Use the little jellies too - hey are tasty. Hell, sometimes we've even just ordered a dozen biscuits for a dollar or two and bring them home for a snack. The entree may seem expensive for ten bucks but remember that you are getting free appetizer, a ton of food that you may just be able to finish, and they provide little games for kids at the tables.

Great Cracker Barrel! Their southern cooking and breakfast is amazing! They were able to accommodate substitutions to the meal with no fuss and no extra charge. I ordered the eggs in a basket, and it was great! A perfect amount of food! Stop by here when you're driving down the interstate!

The store was fun to browse but the food came out cold, they nuked it but was still uneatable. I got my favorite chicken and dumplings, Mac and cheese and green bean. The beans were not drained properly and watered everything down, the Mac had no flavor, while the dumplings left me wanting something like I use to get. I changed my rating the server was wonderful she did her best to make us happy and should be commented.

So tonight I went out with my lovely lady and my daughter to Cracker Barrel. I've always liked the place since I was younger and my girlfriend LOVES the breakfast. But the service I got tonight was ridiculously lousy, at first when the young man (who's name I do know but I don't want him getting in any trouble) came he was nice but he did take mins just to walk up and I liked him, alil goofy but hey sometimes that can be apart of the charm. He took our drink order & comes back about 10 mins later(alil long) takes our order I ordered the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, and steak fries my girlfriend order the fried chicken strips with string beans, sweet potato and fried apples. I ordered a grilled cheese with fries for my little one. So he goes puts in the order I see him come back to clean off a table that is right next to us it was dirty from the time we walked in, no one was trying to clean it, as he does he fumbles a plate and instead of just letting it fall cuz there was knifes on it the goof try's catching it and ends up doing this weird twirl that sends half the food and sliver wear flying over at the edge of my table and the plate about 2 tables down the opposite way almost hitting a customer in the head (the guy was able to dodge it) while that's happening the food from the plate hits my shirt and the knife & fork hits my shoe (thank god it didn't stab me, my daughter or girlfriend cuz I would've flipped) since everybody heard the loud crack a co-worker comes with the manager stands next to my table to see what happened, while I'm still checking to see if anything cut me or went on to my daughter, table or drinks. the co-worker ask me "omg did anything hit you?!"with the manager standing right there I told the girl "yes food flew on my shirt and the knife and fork hit my shoes" the girl says "omg!" But she had to go help and check on other customers, the manager said NOTHING even tho I know she heard. So the kid finishes cleaning and walks by my table to pick up the sliver wear(that flew at me) and says "ur food should be coming up"..Like really is no one going to check to see if we are alright and see if I'm even upset about the situation that just happened!!?.(Nor did anyone check on the guy that almost got hit I noticed) this is 25 mins in and we haven't gotten our food and the boy is no where to be found finally I see him at the edge of the kitchen, he comes over I ask him "can I have some biscuits??" He says "yes" and goes to get them comes back puts them on the table(which the biscuits are always good but I guess you have to always ask for them) again he says "ur food is coming up In a min" 5 mins go by, I see him heading my way he tells me "sorry it's taking alittle longer than I thought but it's coming" so I'm sitting there waiting10 mins goes by he's grabbing drinks for a table as he passes by he tells me "ur food is up in the window I'm coming back" 5mins after he comes out with our food puts it on the table for us except for my girlfriends fried apples(we thought he didn't bring cuz he couldn't carry it). He say (cuz our sodas are/have been empty) "ok,so you need two more cokes and anything else?" I said "yes I need ketchup,an extra plate and my girlfriend needs ranch while u get her apples" so he runs off, the reason I asked for an extra plate was cuz my food was all mashed on the same plate normally when I go they put the mashed potatoes in a sep bowl but my chicken was covered with food on each side Mac and cheese on one which was connected to mashed potatoes with gravy that was also covering my fries alil so some of them were soggy but what I notice was the food was hot but the plates were BURNING HOT the reason for that is only cuz they were sitting in the window and that kept the food warm but a plate sitting there on the metal that has heat lamps will make the plate extremely hot if left for to long but ok another 5-10mins later he came with the 2 sodas, ketchup, ranch and tells me "sorry I had to change the coke out" (i know how to do that it takes about 1 min at max) and he's runs off. Without the APPLES! so we wait alil to see If we can find him, he's no where to be found so I flag down the manager cuz I had things to say I asked her if they normally put everything on the same plate like they did with mine she tells me "yes unless u ask them to separate it" which was fine, I asked if she could bring me napkins cuz the boy didn't. She did. Food tasted GREAT. The boy never check on us after that I had to ask the manager for boxes the check. Told her he was horrible needs training. She laughed but was very nice. Won't be coming back unless for breakfast

My girlfriend ordered French Toast with turkey bacon and eggs. Her bacon came out looking like it had just come out of the package and was raw... Even some of the waitresses walked by and was disgusted by it. Her French Toast came out soggy and barely cooked too... Not a good experience sending things back (which we rarely do, but it was disgisting). The manger, however, came by and removed the charge from our bill, so it wasn't a total waste, and we will have to try it again sometime in the future.

I had a great breakfast experience with Jennifer as our hostess - she was great!! It reminds me how important customer service is after the bad experience I had at Subway the night before. If you have never been to the Cracker Barrel - your missing out! If your lucky you'll get Jennifer.

Gotta love the old fashioned theme here with good quality food and fair prices. I usually order breakfast here no matter what time I visit as their pancakes are the best. The bacon is always crisp and the eggs are cooked to perfection. I also enjoy those biscuits they serve for free, but you have to ask for honey as they normally do not bring that. mix honey + butter on a biscuit = fantastic snack.

I grew up in Virginia with southern cooking, lots of fried foods, cooking with bacon greaser and real butter so this place seems to have a sense of home cooking for me. When ever my arteries feel especially unclogged, I head to CB. I love the pot roast and mashed potatoes. Holy sleep inducing meal coupled with corn bread and sweet tea. I feel sleepy just writing about. Breakfast here is the real calling card though. Eggs, country ham, hash brown casserole (it must be laced with crack because I'm addicted to it) all really, really good food. Nice, polite service here. A quick in-and-out at lunch time...beware this location of the weekends..it's packed! I'm feeling a little CB in my near future...let's eat!

I remember really liking Cracker Barrel. Not so much now. This restaurant is filthy. The floors are dirty and look like they haven't been swept in days. The bathroom is a mess too. All these pleasantries aside, the food is NOT good. They must use old oil or something cause all the fried food came out dark brown and smelled and tasted gross, gross, gross. Prices are low which is nice, but not enough for us to come back. My recommendation: pass on by....there are better choices around here.

Your basic Cracker Barrel. Food is good & abundant. Our server was friendly and attentive. Best of all, there was absolutely no wait for Sunday morning breakfast! Score!

they do a great job, we specifically asked to for certain items to be left out our order but they were brought anyway so we had to flag down someone to take them. not a big deal but i feel like i had wasted food since they can not reserve that. other then that we were very happy and ate to our hearts content. kudos to the waitresses there were some RUDE CLASSLESS UNGRATEFUL people there. OMG we girt out teeth a few times at listening to some poeple. so kudos to the waitress you deserve a medal and even more tips from your customers store was decent and once agian we had people cut in front of us in line like literally push us and the cashier said nothing. so thats where the star was lost

I'm back on my bullshit. I was out there living, not feeling like pulling out my jack to take a flick for every meal, feel me? On my cracker ass cracker wave today. (No Racial) If it were for my meal, it would've gotten 1-1.5 but the homies' meal looked halfway official. He got the steak & side eggs w/ double hash browns. Only thing missing was some Welch's grape, Ju Hurd? I got that Meatloaf, mash w/ fried okra. The okra was good but that meatloaf slice was thinner than that midnight slice of Butter Loaf Pound Cake when you tryna not eat too much/late. I get that is was a lunch special but wasn't nothing special about my plate. Shit was kinda cold & the loaf was dry on top. The service was on point tho as the waitress was cordial.

If there was a restaurant that epitomized the USA, it would be Cracker Barrel. I can see people hemming and hawing as they read that first sentence but it's the truth. The content of the restaurant and store is based on the majority of the population: home cooking and country. The concept of the store relates itself to the rest of US residents: tchotchky, and lots of it. This store is no different and despite all the above I love it. On this particular visit, we ordered the following items: Breakfast Sampler Campfire Chicken Everything is made on site and most of the items are made fresh. This meal was no different. I can't say that the Campfire Chicken was my favorite, but since it is a seasonal item I can't say that it was something that I regret. As always the portions are too large for three people but somehow I still managed to eat 90% of it. If you haven't eaten at Cracker Barrel, you really should try it at some point. If you can't bring yourself to eat lunch or dinner, they always server breakfast.

If you are trying to reduce calories and fat, this is not the place for you. It is all Southern comfort food. Most items on the menu are familiar favorites. A lot of the items are fried though recently they are introducing more baked items. Sometimes they call these items, "oven fried." that vegetables are good though certainly not intended for vegetarians. It is open, I believe 24 hours a day, you can't go wrong as you can or from the breakfast menu at any time. They also like to offer samplers. I would recommend it for anyone that almost any time.

I love their breakfast menu. Everything is served with apple butter, grits, biscuits and gravy. I'm not used to this southern menu but everything was good. My son didnt really like the grits and I didn't really like the gravy. But the kids love eating here and looking at all the candies and toys in the country store.

My husband and I like to get breakfast here, even though it may be like 2pm on a Sunday. :) The servers are really nice and they don't mind that we order one entree to split between my husband and I as we feel the portions served there are huge. CB are usually typical nationwide, it has the same kind of theme and store and old fashioned sweets and such. Very clean and usually there's not a line but if there is one, it goes by very quickly.

I almost always get the chicken fried chicken when I come to Cracker Barrel. My favorite. This location is consistent just like all of the stores. You know what you are going to get which is good.

Man, I don't know if I should admit this, but I actually like Cracker Barrel -- at least this one in Boynton Beach. What can I say? They remind of those old Stuckey's restaurants that dotted the highways of yesteryear that my dad used to stop at on long road trips with the family. I've only been here for breakfast so I can't vouch for anything after 11 a.m., but I wouldn't expect it to be terrible judging from my few breakfast experiences. One thing that stands out is the fact that their breakfasts are effing huge. I mean, bring-on-the-pre-Type-2-diabetes huge. You could probably get gout just from eating a couple of these things, so unless your life goal is to have your 400-lb. corpse lifted out of your house by crane and be buried in a piano box, I'd go easy on these things. But damn, their breakfasts are good. The coffee's good. The eggs are good. Even the cheesy hashbrowns are good. The only thing not so good is that stupid brain-teaser puzzle they have on the tables that I can never solve. But I blame this on the massive sugar spike that's rushing to my head and preventing my synapses from firing properly.

I love every Cracker Barrel I have been too. They make my favorite biscuits of all time. I also love their store with all the old fashioned candies.

i loved this place, i wish there was one near my hometown. this place had the best pancakes i've ever eaten, they were the pancakes with apples on top. here's the website: crackerbarrel.com

this I must say... the service is impeccable - def worthy of a fine dining establishment grade... we went to a different one on the way up and the service was equally an unexpected surprise... the food is nothing out of this world but it's not bad either; just your standard country fare comfort food with all its fixings... chicken & dumplings is one of my faves and sadly i didn't get to try the new england chowder bec they ran out so be sure to get there early friday evenings. the nostalgia on the market side is a must-see... lots of vintage goodies packed in their original packaging and format... i went in having a stereo-typed frame of mind about the place and left completely surprised and tummy satisfied!

  • Lily S.

The cashiers in the store part are nice but the restaurant part - If I could give negative stars I would. The service was atrocious. Ten people on the floor and you couldn't get one person to actually do anything. They need to have corporate come in and fix this place immediately. A 4 yr old has more of a backbone than the management here. Food took forever and came out cold. Had to ask 4 people for anything and you still never get it. We love Cracker Barrel but do your self a favor and wait for the next exit. Wins for worst one on the east coast. Avoid!

Don't eat there unless you are fond of receiving a dose on penicillin with your breakfast. I'm 8 months pregnant and was craving their biscuits and gravy so much husband went and picked up a to go order for us this past Sunday. About half way through the meal he said "Why is your biscuit green?" I turned it around a sure enough there was a large green mold patch on the biscuit! It wasn't even a small "could have been overlooked" spot - I will gladly post the pictures to this site. Not only does it disgust me that this was served us after going through their "accuracy check" but the fact that I was half way through my meal - how much more did I eat that my husband and I didn't notice?! We have made several attempts to contact them and have not received anything back except an automated response saying that someone would review our concern when we attempted to contact them via their website. Disgusting.

The service was great, but the food was crap. The ham was salty, grits had no flavor and the sawmill gravy tasted like it was made of saw dust. It's usually good. Don't know what happened this time.

  • Brooke G.

So yummy! The wait is always crazy long on the weekends but the food comes out hot and the gift shop is like disney land! If you're looking for country food this is a great place to go. You can also get a lot of candy they don't sell anywhere else anymore.

  • Tom S.

Someone needs to tighten up the staff. Had to get our own cream for the coffee. Eggs were cooked right but bacon was under cooked. Normally the service at Cracker Barrel is better than this!

  • Adige G.

Grits!!! The biscuits were great. This food stuck with me for two days. I guess it was keeping the Cuban coffee company. This is the type of food people on the farms eat. You won't be hungry until way past dinner.

  • Suzy V.

I like this place.... But maybe that's because I don't go very often... At this particular location the elderly man at the store was real nice but our waitress was mean... I fealt like i was having my last supper before my execution.... Really... But the food is good southern imitation and the price is realll good ...watch out when ordering a 'small ' orange juice because the juice is small ... Like smalllllllll

You know what, it's kitschy, it's obnoxious, and Cracker Barrel does a good job of it. Plus, you can't beat breakfast all day. I was a BIG breakfast fan before I stopped eating most of that stuff, and I definitely enjoyed eating pancakes midday.

Another classy Cracker Barrel. Gotta love this chain.

Packed to the max with senior citizens. Typical Boynton Beach. And what can I say? It's Cracker Barrel. You either love it, or you just don't care about gimmicky restaurants. I'm the latter.

I just read a review of biscuits and gravy, and it brought me back to my fond memories of this place. I grew up on the East Coast, and every summer & winter my family and I would drive up the coast from FL to NY. Cracker Barrels were my favorite pit stop. This one in particular was close to my college, so I figured I'd rest my review here. If you haven't been to one, it's commercial southern comfort at its finest. It's a restaurant attached to a little general store filled with charm, chotzkies, and candy. Breakfast for me was either their thick, amazing sourdough french toast drowning in maple syrup or the biscuits and white country gravy speckled with sausage. Oh, and the eggs -always buttery and fluffy. If I had ordered extra biscuits I would spread my favorite Dickinson's Blackberry jam (the brand that they used to serve) on top of the butter and just rejoice in the Buttermilk goodness. Lunch or dinner - Fried chicken - crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside.. Chicken and dumplings made from scratch.. OMG - and the side dishes! Sometimes I'd make a meal just from those. The Mac n Cheese, not anything frou frou, just simple cheesy goodness. Fried okra. Fried apples. (sensing a theme here?) Oh, and the hashbrown casserole - potato heaven. My lord, I miss this place, but my thighs are quite thankful that they are not out here on the left coast. Although, maybe I should go home for a visit...*drool* buttermilk biscuits....

If you haven't eaten at The Cracker Barrel Old Country Store you could be in for a treat! If you never heard of this chain you must be living under a rock and should try to get out more. Cracker Barrel has taken over the highways with easy to access restaurants along side most major interstates throughout the country. Why do so many people stop there? Consistency! Each and every Cracker Barrel Old Country Stores are almost identical. The food is identical and the service is identical. When you walk through the door you know exactly what you're gonna get for the money. And you're gonna get a lot! While you wait for a seat, you can riffle thru the thousands of amazing items they have for sale in the "store" section. Plenty of candy from the old days and even some clothes touting the local color. The kids love looking thru the toys and it makes waiting more of an enjoyable time. Sit down and loosen your belt. They have the best country style breakfasts around and a great assortment of lunch and dinner items, too. Just like Aunt Bee (from Mayberry) used to make! For breakfast I love the Sunrise Sampler or the Old Timer's Breakfast. The hash brown casserole is wonderful and be sure to ask for the apple butter. For dinner I like the Fried Chicken Tenderloin and load up on the vegetables. You can't find food like this at many places. The place is clean, has good service and good food. When your toodling down the interstate and you see their sign you can count on roadside food as good as it gets. Try the ham and egg casserole.

I just remembered I never reviewed this place! And I remembered because I JUST craved their jam n' apple whipped butter on a warm buttermilk biscuit! Whyyyy can't you be in California, you son of a Cracker Barrel!?!?!?! Whyyyy!??!?!?!?! Breakfast is yummy, raspberry iced tea was refreshing... Service had a homey-feel and they have rocking chairs outside on the porch. I love the country feeling it has! Great to start out a Sunday road trip early morning. :-)

Good old homestyle cooking is one of our favorites. We love having breakfast here whether it's dine in or take out. I love their cheese omelettes here. The hash browns are nicely cooked and it comes with a side of bread, grits, or apples. I usually get the whole wheat bread. Sometimes we'll forget to tell them to add jam for the bread when we get a take out and it seems like they always have it in the bag for us when we get home. Score! My hubby is a fan of the old timer's breakfast, which he adores. Let's not forget about their biscuits and corn muffins they serve for lunch and dinner time. This causes me to drool right now!

Totally not my style but I love this place. Best place to get breakfast in the afternoon!. I have been many times (47+) and had one bad experience which they corrected by giving me my next meal for free!
